Grady and his "Baby"

We bought Grady this little baby doll to help teach him about body parts: eyes, ears, nose, hands, feet. It's a baby cabbage patch doll that came with a pink and purple dress. Sandy quickly took the dress off, so we now have a naked baby! Grady doesn't mind though; he carries the doll around and plays with it all the same.

Big stick, little stick

This past weekend Sandy played in a road hockey tournament (He plays in it every year - this year they came second in the A division - lost the final game). Anyway, Sandy had his hockey stick out and was shooting the ball around in the backyard. Grady wanted to play too, so he picked up a stick and was walking all around the yard with it.

The full size stick was just a little big, so Sandy cut down one of his old ones and made it "Grady sized". It's a new favorite toy. Grady carries it all around the backyard and tries to hit the ball with it. He's not big enough or strong enough to actually move the ball, but one day ....

Maybe he's part Saint Bernard?

Saint Bernard drool
VS.
Grady drool

These pictures were taken first thing this morning (you can tell because Grady is still kind of waking up and is not loving having the camera in his face!). The drool is just beginning ...

The next set of pictures were taken this evening right before dinnertime ... check out the drool!

I'm tickling him in the next three pictures to show how many teeth he has now - 16 in total, including all 4 of his first year molars. I guess the drool is happening because his teeth are still coming in/ growing down into his mouth, but I hope it lets up soon because right now, he is a bit of a slobbery mess!

Cuteness

These three videos are shaky and a bit blurry in some parts, but it's difficult to capture a good video of Grady right now because he is always on the go! Anyway, each one has a cute part in it ... you just have to watch some not-so-great footage to see the good stuff.

In this video, Grady is "dancing"! He's actually just copying what I am doing with my feet, which he thinks is so funny.

At the very beginning of this video, you can hear him say, "Da!" and then he just walks away. It looks like he is hoping that Ryder will follow him.

This video shows how much Grady loves Ryder. Grady is always trying to hug him and be close to him. Ryder spends most of his time running away from all the love!

Shoes = Fun

For some reason, Grady has developed a real fascination with shoes. He likes to put his hands inside of them and walk around showing it off. He doesn't have a preference - he likes my shoes, his shoes, and Sandy's shoes all equally!

Backyard Fun

Over the past while, we've accumulated a fair amount of toys for the backyard (yay for garage sales!). We spend a lot of time outside and Grady rotates through the toys. He also still loves the push car that he learned to walk behind (no pictures of it here though).

Playing at the water table.

In the play house. He loves opening and closing the shutters.

The sand box, where the most fun is dumping the sand out onto the grass!

Time to exit!

Beach Baby

With all the beautiful weather we've been having lately, we had to go camping this weekend. We didn't want to go far, so we went to a provincial campground about 20 minutes from where we live, Miracle Beach.

3 clean campers on the first day.

"Wahooo! I love camping"

Just lounging.

Sandy showing Grady a beach treasure.

Searching for more.

"Dad, look over there"

The tide was coming in quickly on us!

Makeshift high chair. (Ryder watching closely in case any food happened to fall on the ground.)

Cool place to play: under the picnic table.

So, camping with a toddler should really be called, "Not getting any sleep at ALL". It started with the hassle of getting Grady to sleep. He just wanted to crawl all around and play in the tent; we ended up taking him for a drive and getting him to fall asleep in the car and then transferring him to the tent. Then, I kept waking up all night to make sure that he was warm enough. And finally, when the sun came up this morning and the birds started chirping, we were all awake. So, we got an early start on our day.

Morning at the beach.

Playing with a shell that he found.

Running!

"Ryder, I am coming to get you!"

Stealing Ryder's stick.

Looking at a crab.

Covered in sand and loving every minute of it.
