Cousin time

Christa, Easton, and esme came to stay with us for two nights. The kids had so much fun together! Preferred activities were laser tag, exploding kittens, and picking berries. We also showed them one of our favourite lake spots.

Ewan and Eileen are here with Janet and Kyle. We were lucky enough to see them briefly before they headed off to the cabin. Hunter shared his glasses with Ewan which everyone thought was really funny.

We’ve had some nice play dates with Bryce this summer. It can be tricky to see him since he’s still napping twice a day but he’s as cute as beans. He’s recently started walking which is fun to watch.

Rainy days and camping on Quadra Island

We had some really rainy and cool days mid-July. The woods became quite wet! One day, when we needed to get out of the house, we met Michelle, Meirah, and Gage for a walk. It was a calm outing until we came across a huge mud puddle!!!

Last weekend, we went camping on Quadra Island for the 3rd annual “Honeywatt” camping trip. We had a great time exploring the beach, biking, and relaxing around the campsite. The Dads even managed to fit in a proper bike ride on the trails that Quadra has developed.

Fossil hunting and friends

We’ve had a cool start to summer so have been given the opportunity to try lots of different activities rather than swimming every day. Last weekend we went fossil hunting at the the river behind our house. The boys found some cool fossils embedded in the rocks. We’ve also had some great play dates with Grady’s friend, Westin, and Hunter’s friend, Kai.

River days

We had beautiful weather at the start of July so spent a few days going to the river. Sandy was insistent that we swim at our own spot. So, we hiked down the power line trail a ways to find this isolated section. He was right - it was great having it all to ourselves!

Last day of Kindergarten and grade 5

School ended last Thursday. Hunter successfully completed Kindergarten and knows all 26 of his letter sounds! He will continue with speech therapy next year. He made many new friends, learned all of the routines, and became a leader in his classroom. Grady graduated from grade 5 and will be attending middle school next year. He was awarded the “triple award” for excellence in three areas. His graduation ceremony was really sweet. He’s grown a lot this year, and we are excited for him as he branches out and begins a new journey.
