Happy 5th Birthday Hunter!

This post is a few days late, but still very important! Hunter turned 5 on October 26th and we spent the whole weekend celebrating!

First thing in the morning on his birthday.

Kind words from his classmates.

Party #1: a trip to the fire hall with Kai!

Party #2: Dinner at Grandma and Papa’s complete with a piƱata and a spectacular cake.

Party #3: A visit to the pumpkin patch with Everly and Alysha.

Party #4: Papa Rob took Hunter to the fish hatchery and out for ice cream.

And Party #5: The Honeysett’s came over for brunch on Sunday and we played some fun games (like bobbing for apples!).

The life of an almost 5 year old

Hunter turns FIVE on Friday! It seems like he’s already five, but also like the last five years went by really quickly. A few of the things he enjoys...

“Playing” hockey. ie. skating around for a few minutes and then standing at the side boards chatting with whoever comes to watch him!

Cramming himself into this cardboard box and “surprising” us over and over again.

School! I helped out in his classroom this morning. After the spider web activity, they were allowed to draw with chalk. Hunter drew a web and a heart below.

Saturday

Grady had a friend (Westin) sleepover on Friday. Saturday was another beautiful day so the boys played outside before hockey. Hunter was right in there keeping up.

Friday

Friday was a busy but fun day! It was a pro-d for school so the boys stayed with Grandma Liz while I went to school.  We started our morning with some cartoons.

When I picked the boys up, Auntie Heather and Bryce were visiting so we all watched Bryce move around on the floor a bit. That was fun.

We are very short on winter clothes for Hunter (Grady must have been this size in the summer!) so Grandma took the boys shopping. Hunter came home with this cozy sweatshirt and Grady chose a really nice teal tshirt.

Next, we went for a beautiful walk in the woods near our house. It was a special walk because Ryder came along and we ran into quite a few friends. The leaves are so pretty right now.

Finally, we finished with a sleepover! Westin came to stay the night. The boys watched a movie before bed.

Mushroom picking

We went mushroom picking on Saturday morning before Grady’s hockey game. It was so nice out and we found half a pail full of chanterelles.

After school bike ride

On Tuesday, Hunter went for a play date at his new friend, Kai’s house. Grady and I went for a bike ride right after school. It was beautiful out.

A photo from Kai’s mom ... Hunter with the sword!

Cross country

Grady has been competing in the cross country runs that have happened over the past two weeks. They happen on Wednesday’s at schools around the valley. Last week he placed 14th out of the grade 5 boys and this week he placed 15th. It’s especially impressive because he gets up at 5am for a 6am hockey practice on Wednesday’s. He is tired by the evening!

Thanksgiving

We hosted Grady’s home hockey tournament this weekend so all of us spent ALL weekend at the rink. It was fun but exhausting. The team won the silver medal.

Hunter drew this cute picture at school last week.

Falling practice

Papa Dave affectionately re-named Hunter’s hockey practice to “falling practice”. It’s pretty accurate!
