Friends of ours loaned us this toy --- it's called a Rainforest Jumperoo. Whenever Grady jumps or plays with the toys, it lights up and plays a little jungle tune. These are pictures of his first time in it. He wasn't too sure about it at first, but now he just goes crazy in there ... jumping around and hitting the toys with his arms ... he definitely thinks it is fun.

Baby Gear
Since our house is so tiny, we've been trying not to accumulate too much baby gear. Of course we have failed miserably! These tiny little people need a fair amount of "stuff". I don't know if this particular item is necessarily a need but it sure is fun for Grady!

Happy Five Month Birthday Grady!
Grady is five months old today. I took him to the health clinic yesterday to weigh and measure his length --- he is 19 pounds and 26.5 inches long. The nurse said to me, "Good job Mama," which made me feel great. :)
I've loved every minute of Grady's babyhood so far, but this stage is really cool. He is so aware of everything that is going on around him. When we hold him, he likes to reach his hands out and touch our faces. He can hold onto his rattles and likes to grab at his other toys. Plus, he likes to spend a little time in his exersaucer each day, which makes it much easier for me to get a few things done around the house.
Another bonus of a baby at this age is the sleep! He sleeps 12 hours a night (usually waking once or twice to eat) and has two long naps each day. I can only hope it stays this good. :)
Onto the monthly pictures:

He's ready to go!
Grady's passport arrived today. He's ready to travel the world ... well, he's ready for our trip South in October. He was pretty excited about it getting here:

Starting to notice the big, furry animal in the house!
Right from day one, when we brought Grady home from the hospital, Ryder was a little put out about having to share all the attention. At first, he hid under the blue chair in the living room. Then, he moved on to lying on his dog bed and pouting all day long. But, over the past couple of months, he has started to mellow out a bit and is acting like his normal self again. Also, I think that Ryder was a bit scared of Grady, which makes sense considering some of the noises that Grady makes!
While Ryder has been well aware of Grady's presence in his life, Grady has just started to notice Ryder. Now, when we put Grady on the floor beside Ryder, Grady will grab at his fur and it almost looks like he's petting him (it's really sweet). Of course, I am completely on guard the whole time because I know that Ryder could scratch Grady and accidently hurt him. But, I realize that they need to get used to each other, so we all sit on the floor and I praise Ryder while he lets Grady grab and poke at him. Ryder tolerates the abuse really well ... today Grady was grabbing at Ryder's face and he stuck his finger right in Ryder's nose! Ryder didn't seem too concerned and Grady certainly didn't care .... I was the only one who thought it was gross!
*Just a little disclaimer: I wash Grady's hands really well after we've had playtime with Ryder. I'm not quite ready for him to have dog germs in his mouth!

Fall is here
It seems that almost overnight, fall has arrived. It's still sunny during the day, but it's quite cool in the morning and evening. I'm trying to make sure that Grady stays warm enough when we take Ryder for his dog walks so he's been wearing the hood on his little coat, which makes him look extra cute:
